EPA Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II Award

(3/1/2016) ETSVP-JV, LLC, a nanomaterials company specializing in the development of a new Reactive Nanofilter of air particulates is pleased to announce that it has received an EPA Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II Award titled, “Innovative Filters Using Nanomaterials for Removal of Gaseous Pollutants and Particulates from Contaminated Air Streams”. This work was supported by the EPA SBIR program under contract number EP-D-16-003. The Reactive Nanofilter solves many critical issues facing the coal-fired power industry by using a network of highly engineered nanofibers that are encapsulated with a reactive catalyst for controlling hazardous air pollutants such as fine particulate emissions (PM2.5) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The new Reactive Nanofilter media is targeted as a drop-in replacement for current state of the art baghouse systems used in the power generation industry. Working with researchers from RTI International, the Reactive Nanofilter has been shown to have no change in pressure drop or require any additional cleaning cycles. With support from the EPA SBIR program, ETSVP will scale-up production of the Reactive Nanofilter to full bag lengths and install the filters in a commercial pulse jet baghouse system to benchmark against the current baghouse filters in use today. The Reactive Nanofilter is a novel product platform for controlling air pollutants from many industries including petroleum refining, electronics, food processing, adhesives, and plastics fabrication. With successful demonstration of the Reactive Nanofilter in the power industry, ETSVP anticipates award of a commercialization option to support additional funding to bring the Reactive Nanofilter to full commercial fruition. VaporPulse Technologies, Inc.: VaporPulse, a highly innovative advanced materials company, is changing the global landscape with how surfaces are created. Using a proprietary platform that is free of solvents and other hazardous chemicals, VaporPulse deposits functional nanocoatings to enhance the surfaces of materials. Nanocoatings are deposited with atomic resolution and can be applied on a wide array of materials including metals, polymers and ceramics. The unique attribute of the VaporPulse platform is that nanocoatings are routinely deposited at room temperature and are conformal and uniform on the surface whether the part is flat or complex in shape. This allows the nanocoating technology to find application in a wide swath of conventional and unconventional applications. See more detailed information by visiting vaporpulse.com.
